Here, in AB, we get government funding for homeschooling. I'm more than happy to provide work samples to show learning, so that I can homeschool. Our household budget is stretched thin with six of us, even without having to get curriculum. So the funding is a true blessing, and it even allows for the kids to do things we never would have been able to before.

I can't wait until next year!
I can't wait for a fresh start. Only because I can apply all we learned this year to next.
This year was our first full year of homeschooling. We pulled our 2 youngest children out of a Catholic school last March and finished their year at home. This fall, our eldest daughter also came home. It's been chaotic, to say the least. There is a pretty major learning curve.

CLE LA...love it
Last week we received our new LA program from Christian Light Publishing. We started it the next day. We are loving it! We did the first quiz on Friday. She achieved 100% on it :) She is so excited to get started on LA each day. It's a blessing.
My daughter didn't read or write in English until April of last year. She wasn't reading or writing in French, either, despite being in a French school. She'd learned a little vocabulary, but she was shy, quiet and non-disruptive, and she was left to wither in the background. We didn't start homeschooling for her, but she has benefited so much from it. We started her at the beginning of grade 1 last April 2010. She was missing so many basic foundations. She's considered grade level now(2), in everything, or surpassed it in some areas. She is making leaps and bound progress. She reads above grade level, we're just getting her to par for writing, but it could be my expectation is too high. She's doing fantastic. We're so proud of her.

Fun with French.
After fussing for most of the year, trying to find a French program that will work. I've resigned myself that there is no perfect curriculum. I'm cobbling together my own.
We are using a few different things, workbooks for basic vocabulary, dvd - both learning and movie, to expose to spoken language, cd with work pages to learn the written language, match the oral word to the written word.
